Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. It applies to both adult men and women between 18 and 65 years old, and helps to indicate whether you are overweight, obese, underweight or normal.
BMI Categories*
Underweight – Less than 18.5
Normal weight – 18.5-24.9
Overweight – 25-29.9
Obesity – BMI of 30 or greater
How to Calculate Your BMI
The standard formula for calculating BMI is:
Weight in pounds x 703/ [Height in inches x Height in inches]
To calculate your BMI (you will need a calculator for this):
Write down your weight (in pounds)
Multiply it by 703
Then divide the result by your height (in inches)
Again divide the result by your height (in inches)
BMI is one of the many ways of assessing your weight. If you have any issues or concerns about your weight, please discuss them with us or your physician.

Why should I use a trainer?
Having a trainer takes the guesswork out of exercise and diet and ensures that you will reach your goals safely and effectively in the shortest possible time. Constant monitoring and adjusting of your program, as well as providing supervision and motivation, leads to attaining your goals much more quickly.
What takes place during my first training session?
Your first session will consist of fitness testing followed by a brief workout. I have each client fill out a health history questionnaire/activity history, so that I am aware of any limiting conditions and can create a safe and effective routine (in some cases a doctor’s release is required to start an exercise program). You can download the Health History Form here.
What sets you apart from other trainers?
I approach personal training from a completely different perspective. Similar to how personalized medicine is revolutionizing the world of health care, I believe customized personal training will lead to optimized results for my clients.
What are your credentials?
I hold certifications by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the National Federation of Fitness Professionals. I am also USAW-recognized Olympic Weightlifting coach and have spent most of my life competing in football, basketball and recreational boxing. Most recently, I was certified in Functional Movement Screening.
How do you stay in shape?
My personal program consists of 3-4 days of strength training with cardio work. I also incorporate flexibility work at least 3 days a week with a well-balanced diet.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, checks and cash.
